SOIL DRILLING SERVICES

Terratechnik is an environmental contractor that has specialized environmental remediation equipment to meet your soil drilling needs at a variety of difficult to access sites including building interiors, parking lots, and abandoned sites.

Terratechnik provides ultra portable drilling technologies including our brand new Geoprobe® 420M, a direct push drilling rig for environmental sampling or direct push injection in difficult to access areas. The type of equipment used depends largely on the drilling depth (SHALLOW, MODERATE, or DEEP) and obstructions present. We can mobilize drilling equipment:

inside buildings including basements, boiler rooms, stairwells, and parking garages
outdoor areas which require careful manoeuvring
near aboveground pipes, tanks, or other equipment
along alleyways and fence lines between buildings
along railway tracks, sidewalks, and other high traffic areas

SHALLOW DEPTH HOLES

Terratechnik can provide a variety of equipment for shallow sampling (4-6 feet). Handheld drive samplers and augers are typically employed. The equipment is lightweight and very portable making it ideal for rapid soil gas surveys using a photo-ionization detector or combustible vapour environmental monitoring equipment.

SHALLOW TO MODERATE DEPTH HOLES

Terratechnik will utilize the gasoline powered PIONJAR for shallow drilling, breaking applications, and in hard to reach sites. It can go to virtually anywhere a person can go. It is a breaker comparable to medium sized pneumatic hammers, useful for penetrating concrete or asphalt. With just a flip of the selector it becomes a drilling unit for depths of up to 15 feet. Mobilization between boreholes is very rapid and requires very little set up time.

MODERATE TO DEEP HOLES WITH SOIL SAMPLING AUGERS

Terratechnik will utilize our new Geoprobe® 420M (a direct push drill rig) or a BIG BEAVER rotary auger for deep soil drilling in areas inaccessible to truck-mounted rigs, including inside buildings. The unit is manoeuvrable by hand and is narrow enough to fit through a standard door frame. This drill operates in a similar manner as a traditional truck mounted drill. The rig can drill directly through asphalt and concrete.
